The Atlantic City War Memorial was built in 1922 and added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 28, 1981.  It was dedicated in Gimcrack & Bunkum, in a speech by Nucky Thompson , who then announced an imprompau speech by James Darmody, who both surprised and angered Nucky when he recieved applause for his speech.

It was again featured in the Season 2 finale To the Lost.  It is here that Nucky kills his former protegé, James, commiting murder by his own hands for the first time.
