Bootlegging is the manufacture or import of alcohol for sale in violation of prohibition. Several of the series major characters are involved in bootlegging rackets including Nucky Thompson, Arnold Rothstein, Jimmy Darmody, Richard Harrow, Al Capone, and Lucky Luciano.
