Howard Korder, born November 24, 1957 in New York City, New York, USA, is a motion picture writer and producer and playwright. He is an executive producer and writer for Boardwalk Empire. He initially worked as a Supervising Producer and writer on the first season in 2011. He was promoted to Co-Executive Producer for the second season in 2011 and became an Executive Producer for the third season in 2012. He remained an Executive Producer for the fourth season in 2013. He has written twelve episodes of the series: the first season episodes "Family Limitation" and "Paris Green"; the second season episodes "Ourselves Alone", "Gimcrack & Bunkum", "Peg of Old", and "Under God's Power She Flourishes"; the third season episodes "Spaghetti and Coffee", "Sunday Best", "The Pony", "Two Imposters" and "Margate Sands"; and the fourth season episode "New York Sour". He was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama for his 1988 play Boy's Life.

Earlier career[]
He is the author of the 1988 coming-of-age play Boy's Life, which earned him a Pulitzer Prize for Drama nomination. His play Search and Destroy was adapted into a film in 1995. Among the screenplays he has written are The Passion of Ayn Rand and Lakeview Terrace.
Boardwalk Empire[]
Korder joined the crew in the first season as a supervising producer and writer. He wrote the episodes "Family Limitation" and "Paris Green". The first season writing staff won the Writers Guild of America Award for Best New Series in 2010.
Korder was promoted to co-executive producer for the second season. He wrote a further four episodes for the season; the second episode "Ourselves Alone"; the fifth episode "Gimcrack and Bunkum"; the seventh episode "Peg of Old" with co-producer Steve Kornacki and staff writer Bathsheba Doran; and the penultimate episode "Under God's Power She Flourishes".
He returned for the third season in 2012 as Executive Producer and writer. He wrote the second episode "Spaghetti and Coffee", the sixth episode "Sunday Best", the seventh episode "The Pony", the eleventh episode "Two Imposters" and the season finale "Margate Sands".
He remained an Executive Producer and writer for the fourth season in 2013. He wrote the season premiere "New York Sour".
