Louis Gossett Jr., born May 27, 1936 in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, USA, is an actor. He plays Oscar Boneau in Boardwalk Empire. He is a guest star in the fourth season episode "Havre De Grace". He won an Academy Award for his role as Gunnery Sergeant Emil Foley in the 1982 film An Officer and a Gentleman and an Emmy Award for his role as Fiddler in the 1977 ABC television miniseries Roots. He has been active since 1957 and has also appeared in the series ER.
