Pastor, played by co-star Helmar Augustus Cooper, is a supporting character in "Georgia Peaches". On July 23 1921 he reads a passage from the bible (Deuteronomy 24:14) about oppression of servants to striking African American workers on the boardwalk in Atlantic City. The next day (July 24 1921) the strikers remain on the boardwalk and he leads them in singing the hymn “There is a Balm in Gilead”. They are interrupted when they are attacked by strike breakers but continue with there action despite some of them getting a severe beating.
