Paul Simms is an American television writer and producer. He co-wrote the episode "Home" with executive producer Tim Van Patten. He has written for several comedy series Late Night with David Letterman, HBO's The Larry Sanders Show and The Flight of the Conchords and is the creator of NewsRadio.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Paul spent some years of his life in Saudi Arabia, where his parents were school teachers. Simms graduated from Harvard University, where he wrote for the Harvard Lampoon and was a part-time student security guard, often during the night shift.

Earlier career[]

He began his career in television writing for Late Night with David Letterman. Simms wrote for the HBO program The Larry Sanders Show from 1992 to 1994. He was the creator and head writer for the NBC sitcom, NewsRadio from 1995 to 1999. He directed and produced for the HBO series The Flight of the Conchords from 2007 to 2009. He has also contributed pieces to The New Yorker. He wrote a sitcom pilot starring Matthew Broderick, Beach Lane, for executive producer Lorne Michaels.

Boardwalk Empire[]

Simms co-wrote the episode "Home" with executive producer Tim Van Patten. The first season writing staff won the Writers Guild of America Award for Best New Series in 2010.
